Nomination forms are being accepted for Driver of the Month/Year, Technician of the Quarter, Safety Professional of the Year, Maintenance Professional of the Year, Dispatch Professional of the Year, Fleet Safety Awards, and Master Truck Drivers.

​Master Truck Driver
The Master Truck Driver (MTD) program recognizes our industry’s top drivers who have compiled a career record of excellence through professionalism and service. When you see the Master Truck Driver logo, you know you are sharing the road with a driver who has an outstanding safety record. 

To be certified, a nominated driver must have either one million accident-free miles or ten years of accident-free driving, be violation free for the past three years, have a record of educational or community service activities, and be employed by an IMTA member company.

Technician of the Quarter (4 Awarded)
A Technician of the Quarter will be selected for each quarter of the previous calendar year. IMTA member companies will have the opportunity to nominate a technician based on their contributions in several aspects of their job; Problem Solving, Team Building, Communication Skills, etc.

PRESENTED AT ANNUAL SMC AWARDS BANQUET
Driver of the Month
​
The Driver of the Month recognizes professional drivers who have achieved superior driving records in their career.  The criteria for selection include safe driving record, company recommendation, professional achievements, and community service, act of heroism. Twelve Drivers in two categories are named the respective driver of the months (24 total)
Categories: 26 Years of Driving and Over and 25 Years of Driving and Under; 
The night of the SMC Awards Banquet the IMTA Driver of the Year will be selected from the 24 Drivers of the Month.

PRESENTED AT ANNUAL SMC AWARDS BANQUET
Safety Professional of the Year
The Steve Defibaugh Safety Professional of the Year award is based upon professional achievements, success in advancing highway and industrial safety in the fleet, relationship and cooperation with government officials, and methods of meeting and solving safety problems facing the nominee's fleet.  Steve Defibaugh won this award in 1994 and was a respected Loss Prevention Manager for Marvin Johnson & Associates, Inc.  Steve passed away at the young age of 47 and the IMTA Board members then voted to rename the award in Steve’s honor.

Maintenance Professional of the Year
The Maintenance Professional of the Year award is for a maintenance manager or director whose accomplishments in the field of maintenance and technology exemplifies the high standards of the maintenance profession. A winner is chosen based on professional achievements, success in advancing maintenance best practices and safety, relationships and cooperation with government officials, and methods of meeting and solving maintenance challenges.

PRESENTED AT ANNUAL SMC AWARDS BANQUET
Fleet Safety Awards
Fleet Safety Awards are given for two categories; over the road and local routes, in multiple mileage range categories.  Winners are determine based on a fleet’s overall accident frequency. The frequency is expressed in terms of the number of accidents per one million miles as determined by the following formula:

Frequency = Number of Indiana DOT Reportable Accidents x 1,000,000
                                        Vehicle Miles Driven in Indiana

Dispatch Professional of the Year

The dispatcher is at the heart of every trucking operation and each day the success of the operation rests in the dispatcher’s professionalism and ability to multi-task not only events, but people day in and out. The recipient of this award will be selected based on their commitment to excellence, their ability to communicate, their understanding and respect of the regulations and laws as they pertain to the trucking industry and their ongoing contributions to the overall success of the company.
