EDUCATION Safety Programs – Our Safety and Maintenance Council works hard to make sure our members stay up to date on key topics. They also plan events that recognize driver safety: Annual Truck Driving and Technician Championships, Driver of the Month/Year, Master Truck Driver Award, Annual Carrier Awards Program.
Distracted Driving Education – The IMTA hosts educational awareness for the motoring public by using the funds from sales of our new specialty “Put the Phone Down” License Plate. Support this effort by purchasing one!
Certification or Educational Needs? Just ask us! Chances are we may be able to provide it directly through our on-site Safety Director or via a member company.
ADVOCACY – (Legislative and Regulatory) – Online updates provided on website. At both the State and Federal Level. Some current accomplishments include: 7% sales tax on diesel fuel eliminated for private carriers A proposed $8.75 trailer registration renewal fee was killed Removed the 4 point assessment on a driver’s CDL for overweight citations Tractor-trailers now have the right of way in roundabouts Reduced the proposed IRP registration fee increase of 50% to 25%. This is an apportioned fee.

COMMUNICATIONS – Each week IMTA distributes a newsletter with information important to our association and industry. We also publish an annual membership directory and a quarterly magazine, The “Crossroads Quarterly”. All of these are excellent, economical ways for companies to advertise and reach their targeted audience.
