The 2026 Call to Action

The 2026 Indiana legislative session concluded on February 27, and while we made progress, the work is far from finished.  Our top priority, tort reform, unfortunately was not achieved this session, but IMTA will be aggressively pursuing it again in 2027.  As you are all aware, this issue remains one of the most significant threats to the long-term stability and cost structure of the trucking industry.

We were, however, successful in passing CDL reform legislation, which helps ensure that individuals holding Commercial Driver’s Licenses are properly qualified and legally permitted to operate commercial vehicles.  This is an important step forward for safety and professionalism within our industry.

At the same time, the 2026 election cycle has become unusually competitive.  Following the Indiana Senate’s vote against redistricting, we are now seeing a dramatic increase in primary challengers.  Of the 22 Republican Senate seats on the ballot this year, 17 now have competitive primary races…far more than the typical four or five contested races.
This heightened political activity makes TIPAC’s role more important than ever.

TIPAC allows IMTA to support candidates who understand the importance of trucking to Indiana’s economy and who are willing to stand with our industry on issues like tort reform, regulatory balance, and infrastructure policy.

Our 2026 TIPAC fundraising goal is $45,000, and every contribution helps strengthen the voice of trucking at the Statehouse.
