These awards are given in two categories: over the road and local routes. Fleet Safety Award winners are based on a fleet’s overall accident frequency. The frequency is expressed in the number of accidents per one million miles. A representative must attend the awards banquet to be eligible.

Fleet Safety Contest​

The fleet safety awards are recognized in two separate categories.

• Over the road (in multiple mile range categories)
• Local routes (in multiple mile range categories)

​Rules and Regulations

• The IMTA Fleet Safety Contest awards are based on accident frequency ratios. The fleet among first-place division winners judged to have the overall best record will receive the Grand Trophy.
• Contestants must be IMTA member companies.
• Truck rental or leasing companies may enter the contest and enter vehicles furnished to their customers as separate fleets if three or more vehicles are regularly furnished to the customer during the entire year and both the leasing company and its customer are members of the IMTA.
• All fields must be completed to be eligible.
• Contestants will be grouped for judging.
• All mileage driven in Indiana and all accidents in Indiana must be reported as the basis for the contest, which operates on a calendar year. All DOT-recordable accidents, regardless of fault, must be reported.
• The number of drivers, mileage, and accuracy of accidents will be used in figuring out the overall winner.
